we interrupt this program: lost girl
OKAY. Now we have that out of the way. Care for a little Doccubus action?

dear lost girl 2x06,

WARNING: INCOHERENT FLAILING.

new tv: the secret circle

Teenagers with magic powers. CHECK.
Story so far: Tragedy strikes a young girl's life when her mother dies in a fire while home alone. Sixteen-year-old Cassie goes back home to her grandmother, who lives in the town Cassie and her mother left after her father died shortly after her birth. She runs into teenagers in her school and is subsequently subjected to That New Girl treatment -- which apparently includes getting her car set on fire. Yep, these kids are freaky, and despite the fact that they all seem evil to me, I kind of like them. Especially that hot one in a leather jacket. YEP.
So. Secrets? Check. Teenagers running around practicing magic by setting things on fire/causing major storms/making water droplets float in a forest? Check. HOT GIRLS IN LEATHER JACKETS. Yes please.

new tv: awkward

Jenna Hamilton is awkward.
It's like Mean Girls, but with social networks. Also, who doesn't like a funny thing set in high school (and doesn't involve singing, for a change?) *hands up*

new tv: the lying game
![]() |
Yet another show with twins. YAY.
Also, it helps that the girl who plays both girls (Alexandra Chando) reminds me a bit of Sarah Michelle Gellar on Buffy -- the head tilt, the pauses, the inflection. Stellar. Main boy Ethan (Blair Redford) reminds me of Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) from PLL, and the requisite girl posse also reminds me of PLL, but then this is a Sara Shepard show, so.
In summary: SO SOLD. Hanging tight, and loving it.

Double celeb for Wy and Auntie
Afterwards, we met up with Andrea's former officemates at Cubao! They were awesome and we ate at Bellini's and I took their group photos, etc :) Awesome mini-reunion, thanks for letting me tag-along love!
Monday, I was at work on my day-off to finish something we're cooking up for the Read-Along -- I'm actually thankful I finished bulk of the work plus approvals on that day because as it turns out Tuesday was Pedring day.
Woke to scary winds Tuesday morning, and Andrea was just about to go out to work when her boss texted her to stay home. Lucky. I went to work early to escape power outage in the condo, tried to finish up leftover work from Monday, monitored the news, etc. Andrea was at work with me (it's like a mom taking her kid to work / a kid taking her mom to school kind of deal) and I'm thankful to have someone to ride the scary trike with at 9 p.m. that evening.
Today, two back-to-back meetings and I'm kinda spent. Oh, also caught Glee season 3 episode 2 (meh, as usual) and The New Girl pilot episode (meh, it's as bad as Skins US! I'M SORRY ZOOEY!)
Oh, oh and this -- Read-Along with Remington Friday morning! Geek Fight Friday night! Here, have photos:

the midweek round-up: 9.07
A quick round-up of what has happened since last week:
- Lawrence created this poster, in which we invite you to "spot your newest fave teen stars" (zoom in for total effect of Things that Cannot be Unseen) -- http://t.co/FbF0st8
- So I've been watching Kim Chiu do a bit of cross-dressing on My Binondo Girl. Quick summary/spoilers for the uninterested: So Kim's character dresses up to be a boy (a very pogi boy LOL -- I mean, see for yourself) so she would be recognized by her Chinese (Filipino-Chinese?) father, who has been aching for his first-born son Yuan (who is Kim's brother and who has already died). My question -- Is her character technically lesbian -- since she wants to be male for acceptance's sake? Or do you have to be a girl who is attracted to girls to be lesbian? My head hurts. Meanwhile, I saw the guy who plays Kim Chiu's dad at Rustan's in Power Plant. He is pogi. Hihi.

that ill-advised thing: peste little liars
So for Eliza's going away present we gifted her with... her very own episode of Pretty Little Liars.
No, this post doesn't contain the entire 7-minute episode (which we shot in a day, in between requests and before the bosses came in -- oha) -- what it does contain is a scene-by-scene recap.
Oh man, we wish we're kidding you. Really.
Disclosures: All is fair in love and war. We did not mean to offend you, copyright holders. The program is yours. All you other guys here: THIS IS A WORK OF FICTION. ONLY WITH VIDEO. NONE OF THE ASSERTIONS ARE TRUE! ASK HER YOURSELF! hahaha :)
(Cut for things that cannot be unseen. This serves as your warning.)

eleven twenty-seven
Okay, so this day could have gone better. I'm actually in the middle of something that feels like a hangover, only it isn't because I'm not drunk. Hence, only half the fun.
Oh, fuck it. Let's ogle some hot girls:
(cut for lesbians. and lip service.)

endgames
end game. n. people who should end up together. like a couple. despite all odds.
Remember that new lesbian show we began watching a few months back, the one set in Glasgow with all these fine, accented lesbians in very attractive coats? Well, it ended its six-episode first season last week. And yes, as with all lesbian shows with attractive people, I have feelings.
(cut for spoilers through lipservice season1. and lesbians. and anger.)

dear lipservice--
I am currently busy right now, but I'd just like you to know that after watching all six episodes of season 1, I therefore conclude:
You give me so many feelings. NGH. Or, basically: Dear Lip Service 1x06, WHAT. JUST, WHAT.
(This is obviously a placeholder).

new lesbians on my tv!
And by that I mean, on my computer.
We're two episodes into new British lesbian drama Lip Service, which was basically sold to me by Andrea as "The L Word but British." LOL, have I ever mentioned anywhere that one of the things I loved best about L Word was Helena's accent? And we all remember that the last British show she sold to me was SKINS (and well, we all know how that turned out -- emotional investment of the oh god these children give me lots of feelings, etc. and then bam season 4 = BASEBALL BAT WTF ANYWAY--)
So British L Word? Meaning, lesbians with accents in always rainy weather? In summary: SOLD.

on the dollhouse premiere
warning: spoilers ahead (of course)

first off, dollhouse is *not* buffy. it just isn't. if you were to watch it and look for buffy, you really won't find it/her in any of it.
no humor, no snark (except that part where joss snidely inserts mention of edward james olmos of battlestar galactica -- reference win, btw), no witty snatches of dialogue anywhere and no quirky characters AT ALL -- just some of the many many things we loved about buffy in the first place.
and dollhouse had none of that. at the outset, i didn't think it even had a strong empowered female in it, eliza dushku's character named echo notwithstanding.
i guess i just wanted to see the requisite Faith-residue that i was hoping ms dushku would at least have - something crazy and kick-ass and sexy as hell.
instead the ep opens with a motorcycle chase where ms dushku loses her helmet after a bad fall halfway through (but of course) but then the whole thing ends in a party (WTF?). i was hoping for a drug bust or something equally significant like a demon's lair or anything BUT a party? Joss naman.
but what the hell, dushku takes off her jacket and oh my god THAT IS THE SHORTEST DRESS I'VE EVER SEEN ON YOU. i mean, since bring it on, right. i mean, seriously.
(and so all is forgiven)
i watched the first episode this morning with very little expectations after all the talk about how the opening was a disappointment and all that, BUT...
un-buffy-ness notwithstanding, i think the whole premise of these programmable people is promising - it's practically a lot like crossing over eternal sunshine of the spotless mind with alias or something, and looking at the whole thing in that framework made my first 42 minutes with this new show kind of bearable.
i mean, the plethora of things you could go with this, right? for someone who used to spend days doing an Alias marathon, color me rather excited because eliza dushku gets to be a sidney bristow in theory, if only a bit veronica mars in the fighting back physically portion.
well, i do hope to see in the future more powerful personalities programmed into dushku' s character, echo - not that the whole kidnap negotiator in corporate attire and glasses wasn't hot, but really, the asthma thing did suck and really, when i see eliza dushku in a tight situation, i expect her to KICK ASS so please please PLEASE make her kick a lot of ass already. or at least give her a gun. or superhuman powers, because dear lord that's what those sculpted arms are for.
also, that programming geek? totally not likeable, but then this was what i said about logan echolls. anyway i think i should see some female bigwig somewhere, in addition to that woman who i presume is the president of their person-programming company, because COME ON, it's a show named dollhouse, it would absolutely be tasteless to have it be about these girls being programmed by this guy who doesn't even look smart to begin with.
and on a final note, i hope there'd be a lot of gaying around, and less dushku kissing boys, because the dushku i know is butch. ktnxbye.
